An emergency appointment is a focused visit to deal with an urgent dental problem. Your dentist will diagnose the cause, relieve your symptoms and either complete the treatment or stabilise the tooth until a longer appointment can be arranged.
Common reasons include severe toothache, facial swelling, a broken or knocked-out tooth, a lost filling or crown, bleeding gums, an injury to the mouth, or problems following recent dental treatment.

Some situations need immediate medical attention rather than a dental appointment. If you have swelling spreading towards your eye or neck, difficulty swallowing or breathing, a high temperature with feeling very unwell, or significant facial trauma, go to A&E or call 999. We keep appointments available each day for urgent problems. Please call as early as you can, as same-day availability depends on how many urgent cases we already have.
No. We welcome both existing and new patients for emergency appointments. You may be asked to complete a medical history form before your visit.
Hold it by the crown, not the root. If it is an adult tooth, try to place it back in the socket and bite gently on a clean cloth. If that is not possible, keep it in milk and contact us immediately. Do not attempt to replace a baby tooth.
There is a fee for the emergency assessment, and any treatment is quoted separately. Our team will explain the costs when you call and before treatment begins.
