At Highfield Dental Clinic we believe in holistic dentistry – treating the whole patient, not just their teeth. That’s why we offer a range of therapies including acupuncture, acupressure and cupping, which can be used to treat a range of conditions. Acupressure is also very effective in helping nervous patients to relax before and during dental treatment.
Our acupuncture, acupressure and cupping treatments are provided by Dr Hua Shen, a fully qualified and highly experienced practitioner who has worked in both China and the UK. Dr Shen studied at the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where she was among the first students in China to achieve a Masters Degree linking both Chinese and Western medicine. She was also an acupuncture adviser for foreign students, before working as a doctor at Shanghai Tongji University Hospital.
In 2005 she began working in private clinics in the UK, treating a wide range of conditions. Dr Shen’s experience is unique in the West Midlands as she has both Chinese acupuncture education and experience and full membership of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), the UK’s governing body for professional acupuncturists.
Since 2005, Dr Shen has worked in UK private clinics and gained extensive experience of treating a wide range of conditions, using acupuncture, acupressure and cupping. As such, she complies with the BAcC’s Codes of Safe Practice and Codes of Professional Conduct, as well as with current UK health and safety legislation. She is also fully insured.
Dr Shen believes in treating every patient as an individual, with unique, tailored treatment, because everyone will react differently to treatment. She has designed her acupuncture sessions to be a relaxing experience – in some cases, so relaxing that patients have fallen asleep during treatment!
